Paulinho worked his way between a pair of defenders and rolled a shot into the back of the net in extra time to put Palmeiras into the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Brazilian league rival Botafogo.

Chelsea's FIFA Club World Cup bid could be further boosted by the signing of Joao Pedro from Brighton and Hove Albion.  The Blues have reportedly agreed a fee worth £60 million with the Seagulls and the forward could be signed in time to be in contention to play in their quarter-final clash with Palmeiras on Saturday.

Palmeiras fans had to wait 100 minutes for the goal, but Paulinho's strike was a deserved reward for the teams' play and the colorful scene in the stands at Lincoln Financial Field.
