State and federal prosecutors have charged more than 320 people in the largest coordinated takedown of health care fraud schemes in Justice Department history that uncovered nearly $15 billion in false claims.

U.S. officials say hundreds of medical professionals will face federal charges for alleged roles in various healthcare schemes that resulted in financial losses to the tune of billions.

The Justice Department on Monday announced criminal charges against more than 300 individuals over their alleged involvement in over $14.6 billion worth of health care fraud schemes.
