Connor McDavid and his teammates are off to a good start as they controlled play over the final two periods en route to a 4-2 victory over the Golden Knights.

Heading into the third period of Tuesday’s Game 1 matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights, the Edmonton Oilers needed a spark. Sixteen minutes later, Zach Hyman scored the game-winner as he skated into the high slot and fired a bullet that zipped past Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill glove-side — the third of four Oilers’ unanswered goals.

The Edmonton Oilers are not known for Game 1 prowess, and in their previous 12 series, only against the Los Angeles Kings and Dallas Stars in 2024 had the Oilers claimed a Game 1 victory to open a series.
