Dozens of people braved the rain Saturday to protest outside of Metro Vancouver Tesla dealerships, as part of a "global day of action" against the electric carmaker's CEO, Elon Musk.

Vancouver police say they are deploying dozens of extra officers this weekend to demonstrations planned in the city against Tesla. It’s part of a global day of action to take down the company, and is expected to be the largest in a series of demonstrations against the Trump administration and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

More than 130 additional officers will be deployed throughout the weekend, including members of its specially-trained Public Safety Unit to maintain order.

Organizers say today’s protests will be peaceful, but they are bracing for hostile confrontations with Musk and Trump supporters. Protesters are targeting Tesla because they believe its CEO Elon Musk is using the wealth the company has brought him to fund political actions they view as a threat to democracy.

Hundreds of protests at Tesla showrooms around the world are expected on Saturday, including multiple demonstrations organized across Canada.

More than 200 protests were held Saturday nationally and hundreds more globally amid a "global day of action" targeting Tesla founder and Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk.
