Mexico's New World Screwworm outbreak halts livestock imports at the southern border as US officials work to prevent the parasitic fly from spreading to American animals.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said May 11 that it is suspending imports of livestock through Mexico because of New World Screwworm threats.

The threat from the flesh-eating maggots, known as the New World Screwworm, has suspended live cattle imports through the southern border.
