Police received 'several reports of a stabbing incident' just before 3:30 p.m. local time on Thursday, March 27, near the Sint Nicolaasstraat in the city center of Amsterdam, Netherlands according to a police news release.

Police in the Netherlands say a knife-wielding assailant has seriously wounded five people in a stabbing attack in Amsterdam before he was taken into custody.

Five people, including two Americans, were injured in a stabbing spree in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam, authorities said.
