What was described as a "major medical emergency" at the North Berkeley BART station led to major delays on the Richmond line Monday morning, the agency said.

Commuters from Richmond still were able to access the San Francisco Airport by boarding a Berryessa-bound train and transferring to a yellow line. The station re-opened just after 11 a.m., as was the red-line service, Filippi said. Officials did not have an update on the condition of the person who was on the tracks.

BART temporarily halted service on its Red Line earlier today after one of its trains reportedly hit a person walking on the tracks near the North Berkeley station.
